Have been contemplating where to go next with improving my SV (don't say get an S3 :tongueout. K1.8 180bhp (DVA); dry sump;TB's;Emerald;Powerspeed Exhaust;5 speed BGH HD long first box, Titan LSD.

Thought very seriously about going to 200bhp plus with a VHPD head etc but decided I couldn't justify the £ for the bhp gained.
Will be investing some £ on improving my abilitiy behind the wheel next spring and am now considering a set of Nitron's....so are they really worth the approx £1k premium over a set of new Bilsteins ??

For road use and a few TD's I'd say no, If you do the L7 club sprints then maybe.
£1K is a lot for not much gain IMO. Of course if you just won the lottery then go for it
I'm sure others are gonna disagree, hopefully they'll explain why the £1K is money well spent

But a can say that there is no comparison between the two.
Nitron shocks react so much quicker that the standard Bilsteins
When i fitted these to my 7 they just transformed the car and gave me so much more confidence.

They have different spring weights and have been valved to suit the 7 and they are also rebuildable

I for one dissagree, although the ony experience I with Nitrons I have so far is under an vx220. Transformed the car and as I was attending trackdays on a regular basis, I discovered I had the wrong springs.
Hoping to keep my word not attending trackdays that often anymore, I now have a new set under the Caterham SV. I'm guessing they will do fine on the backroads, and the choses springs might be a little on the soft side if I can't keep my promise when I have the car finished.

Caterhamparts, please deliver my missing parts so I can go on building the bloody thing!

I run these as well, but have no back to back feedback, since the car came with the rustyest set of dampers you could imagine, the car was a pile of poo and to be honest was actually dangerous. As I fully intended going racing again a set were purchased in readiness, sadly my ambitions out weighed my bank account and the racing had to resign as just memories.. But the dampers are fine , like Hatter has said, mine are valved for the car which is important on a light machine. Are they worth it ?, certainly yes if you were really serious about competing with your car but for road use only I feel they are an expensive ( but great looking) luxury, if you have the available spare cash buy some you won't be disappointed.

They are probably worth it, but if you plan to use the car for trackdays on a regular basis ask the Mad Hatter to advice you on stiffer springs. I have no experience with the 7 yet, but my VX handled pefectly on the backroads.
I went through my inner rear wheelarches of the VX on the circuits with the standard springs.

Worth every penny, with the correct springs and the car set up, it totally transforms the car. More so on track...big big smiles.
