Chaps - we need to discuss some of the route schedule planning...

Based on something like 175 to 220 miles (poss. one or two up to 250 miles) per day the following is approx. where the stops would fall.
The questions are, do we want to 'miss' Le Bounty?
(Having a night at Le Bounty will reduce by one the number of 2-night stops we can have.)
And, which stops should be 2-night stops?
With the below plan we can do 5 2-night stops... so 3 that are 1-night.

Presidente, being a newbie to this i'll have to take the lead from you & the other esteemed members of Le Bog Club. I like the sound of Le Bounty, I have heard words whispered in quiet hallways about it.
I'm sure however the blat runs it'll be fun

Superb work...!

As commentated before, I would not be upset to miss Le Mans Classic and/or Le Bounty. Could we drop in on our way through, to say hello and/or have a pint of Pride?

For me, A and H should be one-nighters (and could H be a bit further south? Looks like a short drive on that last day or could it offer a pre-Ferry look at the Normandy beaches which I'd really enjoy?)

Despite the short drive the previous day, C should be a definite two-nighter to allow an excursion into Porto (had a week there the year before last on a wine tour - superb town)

We also did a Ribera del Duero wine tour based in Valladolid years ago (you may be noticing a theme with how we holiday!), so would suggest that D be two nights too, again with opportunities for a nice excursion!

re D and F... are there any wineries that have accommodation (and good catering)? That'd offer a superb base for a two-nighter!

Otherwise... don't really care!

Normandy Beaches is a good call, Long story but me & my German Missus went to the American Cemetery at Utah Beach. You can't help but be moved by it

I was definitely thinking of A and H as 1-night stops.
H is presently in the location of Le Chateau - you know, that one!

So we need one other stop as a 1-night...

And yes, I was planning a lunchtime beer-stop at Le Bounty. That would be on the Monday.

I know they're currently "as the crow flies" routes at present (apart from B to C... the crow has been at the port! ) but B looks to be the other candidate given the distances.

I was actually thinking of D as a 1-night, as the terrain there is rather 'uninspiring' from a driving perspective.
B has some very interesting terrain...

And B to C is about 170 miles, but in some very 'interesting' roads, so I deliberately kept the distance to the lower end.

But, if there are some interesting places around D for food and drink, I'm all for making B a 1-night and D a 2-night...

Oops! - I've positioned 'H' too far up...
It should be where the 'star' is below and slightly to the right!
That leaves about 150 miles to the ferry on on the last day.

I'll make a new map as soon as I can...
