I have NS-2R here in Portugal and my rears that made 2500KM are at 1mm from the bars... They're now in the front of the car. I will not be using them again.

Just to add my 0.0000002p worth of opinion...

Kumho's, as s47 says, are only 5mm tread, which for long touring, isn't the best.

I am contemplating of giving Uniroyals a go... Or... By Jov! Avon ZZS or ZZR... I know they are the wrong size for you.

I know that, at least on DT, the Kumho's will only be available in a month and a half or 2 months... On said website, apparently, there is also a 185/60r13 version in hard compound.
I am running 185/60r13 at the moment.

1st- Can I use 185/70 in my car, without changing suspension? Or is t better to get he 185/60 version, if this site is right?
2nd- Could you tell me why did you settle with the V70a? Was it just because of the size or are there any other considerations?
Someone told me that the hard compound, though only having 5mm tread depth when new, has seen between 8k-10k miles, on the road...

What sort of intel do you have?

I have been told the v70 tyres in 185/70r13 will be available in March... possibly April.
I always use 70 profile on Eugene.
The v70 are a good 'grippy' race tyre that is also road legal.
I can no longer use the Yoko A021Rs, as they are no longer road legal... hence the v70 is a good alternative.
I will probably go medium compound.

There's no way you will get 5-10K miles from V70's, on the rear of a 7 - I'd say if you got 2K+ [from the rears] then you need to sell the 7 immediately and stick with a Bintop.
You're not driving the 7 hard enough [or on the correct roads], to justify owning it.
You may possibly get 4K on dead straight motorways [I'm guessing never use my 7 on motorways]
On Welsh 'B' roads I got less than 600 miles from rears and they were far worse for grip than Ao21's which I've used for years
They also cost twice the price of the Ao21's - IMO forget V70's.................
I'm in same situation, badly need new tyres in 185/70x13" size - anyone got any other suggestions??
Failing that I'm just gonna use bog standard road 185/70x13" and drive slightly slower

Not even in hard compound, you can get the 5k miles mark?

I remember many people with CR500 stating they could also get 5000 miles from the rears of their Sevens... So confusing...

Remember I live in Portugal so my wear rate will be larger/faster than UK cars.

I am just worried that I follow the semi-slick route again and, since an alpine trip is forming (yes, leaving from Portugal), I will end up having to put new tyres mid trip, which I do not fancy doing.

I can't comment on your Portuguese roads I've never been there, to wear faster than UK your roads would have to be Technical & or twisty and driven hard, for long distances only then would the Ambient temperature become a factor on wear rate. My daily 7 Blats in UK are 2-300miles on Welsh 'B' roads
If I drive on normal roads in UK in the 7[to go to car shows, races etc] I always fit standard road tyres on rear - any quality rubber would be a waste on these occasions, I have 3 sets [6wheels/set] of different wheels to allow me to do this.
If you are going to the Alps then IMO you're definitely gonna need the longer wearing 'Standard' tyres on the rear, I've resisted Alpine trips Just for this reason, I Know I would have to fit new tyres during the trip in my my car. I know many 7'ers take their cars to europe, How they manage to make tyres last I don't know????? Maybe someone else can comment on this.
I know from Skiing trips to the Alps in the Bintop that for me a European 7 trip would be 3-4000miles, which is well beyond range for any 'sticky' 7 tyres

I had a similar problem!
I'd been using Yoko A048Rs for years on both track and road but as they were no longer road legal I bought a set of Nankang NS2R. I went for street compound as they were bought just for the road. I run on 14 inch rims so my choice of tyre was rather limited.
I did try a couple of laps of the Nurburgring last year on the Nankangs but quickly changed back to the A048Rs for the rest of the day! To be fair, they weren't fully scrubbed in. I have run the Nankangs on the road since then.
Compared with the A048Rs the Nankangs are heavier, the compound seems harder but I suspect the side walls are not so stiff. They feel OK on the road and a lot more comfortable - as if I'd set the dampers softer. On the track they let go a lot sooner but in a fairly controlled way! The Nankangs are OK but you can't push them so hard on the track.
Just to add to the confusion - I did try Yoko A021Rs a few years ago but found they didn't grip as well as the A048Rs.
Perhaps it's worth trying the Nankangs. They're cheaper but do need a lot of scrubbing in.

Had you thought of Avon CR6ZZ? They come in the right size. Might be worth a look though they are a bit expensive.

Kumho now say they are unlikely to make any more v70's in 70 profile...

I have looked at swapping to different rims, to allow lower profile tyres with a similar overall diameter, but that's difficult with my PCD.

So, at least for the next tyre purchase I'm going to go with a more 'standard' tyre of the correct size for me.
The options seem to be:

I am sorry to hear about the Kumhos in 70 profile... I thought they were a bestseller...

I would advise to reduce the choice between the Uniroyal and the Continentals. Probably the two that have spent more money on tyre research, specially the Continentals.

Sod it!!!! Just buy A021R and sand paper off the "competition use only" letters

All the above you list are designed for overweight Bintops so not really suitable for 7's especially in wet/greasy conditions.
In dry biggest problem with bintop tyres is they squeal loudly on the 7)
Big brands or budgets IMO there's no difference in performance - buy the cheapest;)
Admaraujo has a good suggestion, several 7'ers I know have done somethimg similar)
Hopefully Yoko' will have a change of mind regarding AO21's for road use??
