Hi,
I was wondering if anybody has views/opinions on changing the door mirrors or if someone already has?

I was looking at them the other day and they just look rather bland and dull. I know they serve a purpose and perhaps that's the point because they form part of the black door they should perhaps just blend in however I saw some chrome/stainless mirrors attached to the window frame of one recently (Without the doors on) and I liked the oldy world look to it especially as they blend well with the headlights.

Has anyone tried chrome/stainless mirrors on the doors? I have seen various aftermarket versions, not exactly the same but appear they would fit and wanted your opinions?

I'm not entirely sure it would look right but like the idea of it.

Cheers

Doors!
There are various options, remember if you fit mirrors the the ********** frame you won't be able to open the doors fully.
Try and go for a convex lens to get the maximum field of vision.
Strange most Euro 7 owners buy flat lenses from us and the Brits go for the convex option.

I have fitted stainless mirrors to the side screens on my Seven.
I got the idea from Blatchat where pmobbs suggested buying convex Lucas stainless mirrors with a ball joint fitting- 10th item down on this page http://www.classic-car-accessories.co.uk/acatalog/EXTERIOR_MIRRORS.html

He suggested fixing them to the Caterham mounts, but I decided to fold up some stainless sheet like this:

And here they are on my car:

Cheers,

I think that's made my mind up. I really like the look of the chrome/stainless look, especially with the circular shape so will do a bit more research in finding a whole unit.

I may have to adapt a little as most of them have the fixing wholes of around 100 mm. I think the standard is a little more.

Thanks again.

I checked on line for ages, most I found on line looked suitable and would fit however I felt that most of the rear view would be of the rear wheel arch so needed something with longer arms so to speak.

I then saw a Morgan and the mirrors looked very similar to the standard Caterham items but stainless. After checking, the mounting holes were slightly different but I bit the bullet and purchased a pair.

Very happy with the look and then found that the wipers are also the same so now have stainless wiper arms, wiper blades and washer jet.

I will sort some pics out soon.

Stainless wipers sounds good, I've never liked the black ones on mine.
Have you had a chance to try them yet?

The wiper arms & blades are actually better than Caterhams (More expensive though) They have an additional screw which holds it in place and are a direct replacement.

The blades are slightly offset which I think actually gives more screen clearance which again looks perfect for the car.

To finish it off I took a punt on a chrome wiper bezel kit for a Mini off E-bay for £7.50. They fit like a glove and good quality.

This was enhanced by a stainless washer jet from CBS and I'm well happy with the result.

I think I'll be swapping to the Morgan ones once my current blades need replacing
