Hi,

Just fitting some new Mintex pads front and rear and just wondering if someone can advise which way I need to wing the rear calipers and AP fronts?

Thanks in advance.

Fronts can just be pushed back - make sure it's done evenly - might be easier to buy the proper tool. Rear calipers may need a piston windback tool or you might be able to do it with a pair of long nose pliers.

Halfords sell both tools required.....I'm sure they are available from other motor factors

Hi Gregs. Rear calipers will require a windback tool to do the job easily , when using tool or pliers wind the pistons clockwise till it stops ,then check to see if the little cut outs in the piston are at 12 oclock . the pad has a pimple on the back and it has to sit in the cut out on the piston .
best of luck

Gents,

Thanks for the help. I have been using a rewind tool and the piston doesn't seem to move clockwise (or anti-clockwise, tried to see if it would move).

Any other thoughts?

I've just done the rear pads on mine and using this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RIGHT-HANDED-BRAKE-CALIPER-PISTON-REWIND-TOOL-SET-WIND-BACK -KIT-USE-ON-MOST-CARS-/390793195286?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5afd16ef16 right hand tool available from ebay, it was very straight forward.
It does take a bit of effort on the short bar on my tool to get it going, but the piston should wind back smoothly and easily once it gets moving.
