Hi everybody. The Italian guy needs your advice again. What do you think about a 2007 SVR with 2.3 cosworth engine 200 hp? the use will be mainly in road with 2-3 trackdays.
know nothing about technical specs, can you help me please? thanks

the advice says 33000 km cosworth engine, some options and good conditions... the car looks a little bit odd. The driver has a tillett and the passenger a leather seat

the engine is good for road use isn'it? The different seats seems odd to me... but i'm a total rookie in the 7 I think living in Italy with good weather almost 7/8 months per year using brooklands could be a real joy.

The Duratec is a great engine, although I know nothing of Cosworth versions - but Cosworth is a great engine builder!).

One 200BHP, one 260BHP.

Did they pull an ignition lead off?
Cosworth made the 2.3 in 220, 250 and 280 Bhp versions.
Looks like Caterham only supplied these with 3 ignition leads.

If we are talking a 200bhp 2.3 Duratec it would be easy to get 250bhp without major engine work
Of course the resulting wall of torque will give plenty of :big laugh:

As far as I know, the Caterham SVR was basically a SV chassis with the 200bhp version of the 2.3 Duratec engine.

It was only available in some markets, Portugal included, though I think not one was sold over here, due to cost, a whopping 65000 eur. base price, if I recall correctly.

It's probably a car that is so rare it should be bought anyway

Engine specs are similar to the CSR200 but, chassis specs are as for Caterham SV.

Mad Hatter i think this car has good arrows in his quiver (MI trying to use figurative language... In english! )
-Good base powered engine.
-my use of the car will be mostly on road and journeys around Europe, and a little more of room it's welcome.
-reasonable price, and with the spare money it's possible to start with all aesthetic and performance improvement.
And upgrade the car based on personal taste is one of pleasures of the seven ownership i guess

Eugene is just over 200BHP (210), and that is just about perfect - especially for road use, with some track days!

Don't get too hung up on power. My first Zetec had about 174 bhp (standard Zetec Silvertop with Kent cams on 45's) and it was great on the road. But I decided I wanted more. Block rebored to 2.1 litres, stage 2 head, same cams as before, fuel injected, made about 208 bhp. Ultimately it was faster but in the real world there was little chance to use that extra grunt. After a calamity with an oil filter it was cheaper to stick in a brand new Blacktop instead of fixing the Silvertop. Reused the injection and I have about 170 - 175 bhp on a bog standard engine. In the real world it is the quickest engine on the road I have ever had. Its so torquey you don't waste time changing gear. On my favourite roads the car is the best its ever been.

Have had a Caterhan since 1988, this is my second. Have no desire to increase the power again, its just not needed.
