You have missed the Zetec - a great upgrade for any Xflow!

Duratec would have to be top of the tree for performance
Zetec for value for money

seems to work ok in fiestas

The Zetec is not supplied by standard from Caterham, but is fitted in may older 7's as a replacement for Xflows, as installation is simple (exhaust on same side, as well as having the same gearbox mountings, etc...)

It is also easy to get 200BHP from, very, very reliably.

I have one in Eugene, and I love it (210BHP, and lots of torque, so lovely to drive!).
Mad Hatter knows my 7 well, and will attest to its abilities - and it's live axle too!

Eugene you car looks fantastic...
Made some research about zetec engines and sadly discovered today: in Italy you can't swap different engines in your car.
If your engine engine broke you can replace with an identical one or another registered in the technical data sheet of the car (bureaucracy).
It's no legal and the insurance don't cover damages in case of need... I must search an example with the right engine from the start and upgrade later.
Seems the search of the RIGHT ONE will be more complicated!!
( i know... at the end of the story I'll be bankrupt buyig a 620r modified with 3 turbos, doors and tin top!!!!) and it's all fault to the happy seveners!!

How about exporting the car to UK, re-registering and doing the engine upgrade and then exporting back to Italy (apologies if this is a stupid idea but I'm now well down a bottle of red wine

ciao Mogster! i think your wine is good and strong! very appreciated the advise , but i think it's a little bit complicated! i don't want challenge the italian bureaucracy twice!! it's like to fight windmills!!!! Now i'm in touch with the guys of the italian lotus forum and they suggested mi to buy an r300. i have to stretch my budget to 27k pounds but maybe i can find a good specced one... i hope.
