Help, I. France and brake lights have packed up!

Brake lights have stopped working while on tour in France, bulbs are fine, looks like no power running to the switch.
It's a 1989 car, of the 12 fuses, I've checked the top 3 and bottom 6, the other row has the ecu loom in front of it making access difficult and I didn't want to try at the side of the road.
Any ideas what to look at when we stop later (apart from something coming up behind us!)

More likely to be the brake light switch...
Have you checked that?

Is it a micro switch in the peddle box?
They are always failing...

You can take them apart to clean them, but watch out for the spring inside as it will fire-off as soon as you separate the bits of the switch!
