OK in preparation for the epic bog club blatt I was starting to connect a camera to the car. The cam has a Car mode so turns on and starts recording when power is applied and off etc. So the plan is to get a car charger for the cam and plug this into a lighter type socket under the dash and feed power to the socket from a switch on the dash. So now I can switch the camera on and off nice. As the wiper switch in not needed I thought perfect. Now wiring diagrams are not really my thing but having a look at the wiper switch this feeds to the motor plug, so I thought about taking power from the motor plug to the new socket and I can change the fuse in the wiper circuit. The motor plug has 5 connections black I assume for earth but which is the switched power. Am I correct in thinking it is the orange and blue or the orange and black? And sorry no I don't have a meter to hand.... Will bring one home but any suggestions.

OK borrowed a meter , so needless fact of the day, Orange and blue, plus orange and black are the switched power at the wiper plug. Orange seems to be constant live (to the fuse box?) and Orange and green don't know. Any reason why my plan to take power from this to a socket would not work. Will add a inline fuse before the socket

Should be fine - you will probably find one wire is the 'park' power, to get the wipers to their park position before all power is then shut off?
I've not looked at a circuit diagram for the 7 for a while...

But, I see no real issues if the lead you chose is simple power on/off with the switch

Well 12v socket for under the dash has arrived. Power for the socket taken from the ground and switched power at the wiper motor plug. Seems to work a treat. Can now switch the camera on and off from the dash. Road test now needed before the epic blat...

Initial road test completed and a success. Camera switches on and off nicely from the unused wiper switch. Now need to adapt the camera mount to reduce the vibration from the car a bit and ready for the megablat.......
