My old Philishave 3 headed unit is well past its best now, in fact I have had to remove two of the cutters because they were knacked, so for those who dry shave what do you use?

I do have some wet gear stuff, but it's a pain in asre getting all the stuff set out and all the hassle that goes with it.

Just grow a beard!

Been there done that, was only when folks I had aged by 15 years did I shave it off..... Mind you that was some time ago now, so I doubt they would tell the difference these days..

Time to try it again? As men get older I think a beard actually makes them look younger. At least it hides any double chins quite nicely!

I was hoping for a new shaver rather than grow a beard, but I will consider it..

I use a more modern Philishave 3 head unit, having replaced an older version a while back...

I do find them the best dry shavers out there.

I've got a Braun. Cost about £70 and it's waterproof. Works well and I normally wet shave and I've been shaving since I was 12.

Braun when I'm away from home at work during the week - wife at weekends, works well for me

I must admit the old 3 head unit has lasted pretty well in fairness, it's knocking on for 10 years old now, although the onboard battery failed about 2 years ago but runs fine off the mains still, I am a stickler for value for money and that Phlishave one was certainly that. I will look at the Braun ones as well thanks Toby / Mal. Any other worth considering?, must admit they are the two brands that spring to mind with me...

I've had a Philishave 850 3-head one for about 30 years I think
It's had several new cutter sets, and a couple of new batterys from www.shavers.co.uk and is easily the best shaver I've ever had.

I was at the same point as you about 3 or 4 years ago and thought I'd splash out and get the latest Philips one to replace it, which at that time was this one although i'm sure it wasnt that much then.

A bit disappointed with it really, and still use the old 850 from time to time. the new one seems to need emptying every day and seems to need more passes than the old 850 to have a proper shave, so take longer. therefore my advice would be get some spares for the old one and refurbish that.

Thanks Bernie, I can't find a part number on this one, most likely I have worn it off, but the design is identical to one even my grandad used some 30 years ago, I guess why change something that works... Not a bad idea about the spares parts bit as long as it works out cheaper than a whole new would, the part number must be on the inside of it as I said, so I will need to take it to bits to make sure I order the right bits.

It'll take a while to get used to if you currently use a Philips 3-head shaver. Can be used wet or dry, with foam /gel, and in the shower. I use mine dry, with excellent results.
