ahhh, thank you, now that is a different ballgame if it would last me a week, I did used to smoke well over 20 a day and over time got that down to 10 or so, not often do I have to buy a pack every single day... So the Ecigs may well save me cash at the end of the week, whilst still getting a "hit", I guess just like the real fags I could cut this down.... I would like to stop, that is my aim, but just wanted to confirm the costs in doing so, no point jumping out of the pan into the fire so to speak...

I did read that BC chat thread, not all of it, but there is an entry there that is saying many companies are banning them from the workplace, now whilst this does not directly affect me, why is this ?, surley if they are "safe" whats the issue, thinking out aloud I can answer that myself with the "smoke and smell" , you could take this to the next level as say I want all perfumes to be banned because I don't like the smell or the taste in my mouth I get when smelling it !!, when I was working, we had a receptionist who I am sure must have poured the bottle over her in the mornings, honestly you couldn't go within 10 ft of her.... So why the issue over safe fags I wonder ?.

I think it's more of a misinformation and perception thing!

Misinformation - because there is a visible cloud of vapour, a lot of folk seem to think it could be harmful (think second hand smoke), it isn't, it's just PG/VG vapour.

Perception - Quite a few pubs have banned them on the grounds that if another punter sees vapour the other side of the pub, they could light a real fag! I don't get this one myself, but just go along with the flow when I'm out.

TBH, my non smoking FD has told me I can use mine in the office, but I prefer the break and go outside for a puff as I did before.

Cheers

As is so much stuff lately, it does seem to be misinformation, I suppose they see it as it coming out of your mouth, so it must be dirty..... Well that perfume was emanating from all over that receptionist's body and nothing was said ( although this was 20 years ago) , I too would respect someone who had never smoked by either going outside or just not having one... I do this even in my OWN house if someone visits who does not smoke.... But to put a blanket ban on them at work is a bit much personally....

I will give those a go then, and report back...

ETA , yes just noticed I am on the driveway as well, wonder when the engine fires up????

Thanks, if I have a particular geekish question I may need it, lol....

I don't mind trying new things, as long as its towards the end game, my family history is strewn with cancer issues so you would think it should be easy to stop wouldn't you ?, but even that has not put me off, grrrrrr

will let you know how I get on anyway

I was a 30 a day Marlb Lights smoker til Jan. In fact if i was on a busy boys weekend then it could easily turn into 40plus.
I bought some kit from one of the places on page 1 of this thread - and popped it in the drawer ready for when i ran out of stock....as fate had it i knew i'd run out on new years day and was in no fit state to drive....so i wheeled out the e-cigs and since then havent touched an 'analogue' ciggie.

i started with 18mg and went down to 12mg, and now i buy anything around the 8-12mg range.

why did i give up? well i knew the health side wasnt clever but to be frank chucking £300 a month at the habit was getting painful and it was that really that i couldnt get my head around at the end. I get asked by people, so how long will you vape/smoke the e-cigs before you give up? the answer is i dont intend to give them up, i have no agenda in that respect. i enjoy the vaping, just as i enjoyed a 'normal' ciggie. i vape as much as i smoked, meaning that when i'm on a pc/phone - which is basically all day at work ( from home) i use the thing alot.

cost is peanuts. the kit cost me about £45 for 2, since then i tried a few different 'tops' which do make a difference to the flavour. Reckon it took me £30-40 to figure out what worked best with the liquid that i use. Now i buy the liquid from China, it is as far as i can tell exactly the same as one of the brands that i was paying 3x as much for here. so 100ml is about a tenner, and i guess that lasts me 2weeks ish. The tops i used to bin when they started to gunk up and taste bad, i followed a tip about using / making my own cotton wicks which last longer and cost nowt. Oh and i bought more batteries so that i have spares at home/work etc.....reckon that it now costs me about £5-7 a week tops. For a low smoker the cost would be way less. Oh and i vape Vanilla - i figured trying something that reminded me of tobacco wasnt the best move - tried a few like apple etc and from the end of week 1 liked the vanilla and have stuck with it. and bonus is its far easier to vape in the Tiger than trying to light a fag and have a crafty puff in traffic!

Thanks Green, OK well after lots of thought I am going to go ahead with this, order will go in next week for some stuff and see how I get on, like you, for me it's the cash aspect ( think what I could get for the car instead !!) so I need to try and swap over, with a final goal of giving up altogether..

I have family members who went cold turkey and gave up just like that, that maybe easy to do when you live together, but me living alone its just me and the fags, no other input , so I am hoping that these new fags do the trick

Vaping in the car!!! Forgot about that benefit, I'm running Brooklands on the S4, great driving, but going to Le Mans this year with a load of non smoking Bog Club boys proved all that! No more "come on guys, I need a break from this 2 hour blat round fantastic roads that we are all are getting into", just stick the Ego somewhere safe and handy and puff as you go!

I did leave the big boy VV/VW device till I got to the campsite though!

Westy, sign up for run! You'll love it Just don't follow me In more ways than one (Crossflow that burns oil like no tomorrow)

Good laugh all round!

Cheers

CaptainPlugwash:
Westy, sign up for

I would, but without harping on about it, I live with just my 3 dogs, call me a soft old son of a gun (insert your own expletive) but I can't leave them in kennels for a week or so, I know other folks do, but I just can't do that.... You wouldn't put a small child into care because you wanted a holiday would you ?....

But I do have a number of things I want to do already on my bucket list.

At the very top of that list at No1 is Go to Le Mans for the 24hr, which would include the classic race
No 2 is do the separate Classic event there
no3 is do the TT in the I.O.M.

list stops there at the moment, but is ongoing hehehe

As soon as the dogs are no more, I will be free so to speak, but until then just have to watch all you lot enjoying it instead for me...

Just ordered 2 each of the mini pro tank kits, for me n 't' missus, the aim is to start vaping from Monday, were not big smokers, around 10 a day each, I've rarely smoked through the day, never developed the habit of daytime smoking due to my work in my yoof, on bp shipping petroleum carriers might have been a tad risky . and then as fast rescue boat operator ( too wet) so it's just a habit developed on a evening, fingers crossed for a successful end to my smoking . Just a aside, can you get weed flavoured juice ?
