Ok, having just lit yet another real one, do these new fangled things actually do anything or is it all in the mind ?, I could do with packing up , but have not had a lot of luck over the years, this month was / is supposed to be stopober or something like that, so if you use these new things, who makes them which are to be avoided and how much are they......

Suffice to say, I am converted, a long time Golden Virginia smoker (25ish a day), been off them since February and feel miles better! Stopped coughing, can breath again etc.

Still addicted to nicotine, that's not the harmful bit also really enjoying it surprisingly enough!

Ok thanks, I am aware that the nicotine is not the bad bits, but rather the crap they also put in them, I did stop for a 9 month period many years ago, so I know I can do it again - I just need a little help in getting that far, these new things might do the trick.... Oddly enough ( and you ought to think I would know better) I also suffer with Asthma, and had my yearly checkup yesterday, I mentioned the E fags to the guy testing me, he said he has a few mates who use them and they do work, I just can't help feel it's the placebo effect that's all..... I am happy to be proved wrong however..

Ok, as I said been off the fags since Feb as a result of using e-cigs. I was increasingly getting short of breath and coughing, also went down with bronchitis twice in 3 months, so on impulse, went an ordered a starter kit of the web.

I'd previously tried the look alike e-cig which frankly did not work! Taste was meh, battery life was pants and it didn't hit the spot IYSWIM. So did a bit of research and ordered a starter kit similar to this: http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/Basic-Vaping-Kits/Kanger-Esmart/Esmart-Kit.html comes with 2 batteries so one can be on charge whilst the other is used.

I'd actually now recommend this though: http://myepack.co.uk/kits/mini-protank-kit.html Battery has a longer life and the tank is far more durable. Obviously I'd recommend 2 of these dfor the reasons above.

All you then need is some liquid to put in it. Depends on how heavy a smoker you are as to the strength you should get, I started on 24mg liquid, but have since cut this to 18mg as I found it a bit strong pretty soon after I started. As to what flavour, that's down to you, there are literally hundreds of flavours out there. I tend to like a slight sweetness in my vapour, but also have recently got into some specialist tobacco flavours. A lot of people really like fruity flavours as well as menthol/mint, your choice really!

A good supplier is http://www.ecigwizard.com/. They have an extensive range and are very prompt with delivery, next day to your door! Their Redwood Blend is one of my all day liquids at the minute.

I've tried all sorts of methods to give up in the past and non worked, so, do they work? I can only answer with a most definite yes!!!

Thank you Mike, some top info there from someone who knows, had a look at the starter kit, and I know it depends on how much you smoke, but on average how much of the liquid do you use say per week?. The starter kit states that it comes with a 10ml container , if I smoke say 10 a day of normal fags, how long would you expect 10ml to last for. The Ecigwizard site has refills of liquid for around £5 to £6 a go, again for 10ml...

I know my health should come first in all of this, but I am afraid that the pocket feels the pain first, so just trying to work out which would be the cheaper option.

My local shop has some new Players (real fags) for £5.79 for 20 ( 19 actually) , they last me two days....

Well put together video that, from just watching that , the Ecig is not really designed to make you want to quit is it ? , far from it as is shown by the mirad of different ones, seems to be a growing market as well.... I think personally they are for the health conscious, who wish to stop with all the nasty bits that gets put in real fags, I am not knocking that by any means and if it is of help then thats great, I was kind of hoping to watch that video and perhaps get "pushed " towards them with a view to quitting at the end of it.... maybe that's still possible ?.... Being into engineering and electronics I could make one of those myself. given half that vid was spent on the electrical side of it, I now have an understanding of whats going on...

I for one don't particularly want to give up on the nicotine, I quite enjoy it! If you do go down the e-cig route, you can always ease the strength of the juice down, you can get nic free juice!

If you are only smoking around 10 fags a day, then I reckon that 10 ml should easily last you a week. The protank mini in the link holds around 2.5ml, I have a similar tank which will last all day for me, but I was smoking 25ish a day!
