For some reason (s) unknown to me, folks on Blatchat seem to be averse to the folks here, an example ( but not the first one ) can be seen in their recent chat on Simon Cowell taking ownership of a new CSR 260. For folks like me who are not "in the loop" why the resentment between folks who have one common love of all things 7.....? Genuine question by the way....

To be fair, many of the comments in that thread explain all there is to know...

That's why 7-DNA exists.

To welcome everyone with a common interest in everything with the thread of 7-DNA running through it.

I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locus. It wasn't my fault. I swear to god!

Fair answer.... Just wonder why some folks seem so odd at a celebrity buying a car, its a seven ! , they should be chuffed that someone like him has a Caterham, thank goodness for a forum like this exists..... I don't join car clubs for this very reason, I have belonged to many different car clubs over the years and they always seem to create two distinct groups, those who like the pure concourse cars and those who modified their cars or had different views, I was the latter and got shunned for my mods and racing activities.

Oh well, guess if we all were the same the world would very very boring......

So if you disagree with the views expressed so strongly why read blatchat at all? I stopped posting when the censorship kicked in although I remained a L7OC member. I stopped reading it and left L7OC about 18 months ago. I now find my life better all round. They're just a bunch of cliquy ******* with control freak management.

Have to say I agree...

Membership ends this winter - will not be renewing as it is no longer the club I joined back in 1988.
A real shame, but I guess that's life.

Time to do something more interesting and fun

Right now I'm really looking forward to Le BOG Club's Classic Le Mans excursion, and planning the route options keeps me busy!
It's going to be epic!!!!

I'm not in the loop either but the objections to 7-DNA seem to relate to overt advertising on blatchat although I think there are underlying issues that are best left alone as it is unlikely to be a fulfilling discussion.

The comments about simon cowell are just sad, although you will have seen that there are two differing points of view about his ownership. I am glad that Caterham F1 have picked up on this (with the offer of a F1 drive!) on Twitter, but surprised that CC haven't themselves.

WestyOwner - get driving those brill roads you have up there.

Blatchat is what it is, often misunderstood by it's users, misrepresented by the Ltd company that owns it, but has buried within it much info and good people.

Without a doubt over the years it has become less fun with every decision that is made to "protect it", which is a shame, there is no them and us - we just know that owning cars is all about driving and mates.

Thanks guys, yeah I guess some things are best left alone, it was just a question that was annoying me....

@ Snakes. I was going to go out today, but the weather put an end to that, although I have full weather gear , it's not the most fun driving for pleasure in our cars with misting up windows and poor visibility in spray ( me being not visible that is).

There is a definite divide of types on Blatchat, I have made some good 'mates' on there who I have never actually met! Often ring Kenny up for a laugh and technical queries, great bloke, and some other oddballs that make me chuckle, some of them are also on here.
I have always tried to have a laugh when posting on there and the technical help has saved me thousands, alas I don't meet many, I went to one club meeting and was put off from the first minute when I was told, Oh, you've got flares on they are crap and they cause lift. I checked my trousers and said " who the feck are you? Gock wan? " which went straight over their heads, another said "we heard someone had bought Peters car, rumour going round that you have changed everything and spoiled it!" My ghastl was flabbered as I had only added a FIA roll bar. I didn't go to another meet, but was tempted to start going to the north east 7 meet as all those from that area have been a right laugh and Great lads. , as with most things, there is always some **** around to spoil things but they are mostly sound over there. I keep up my membership as I like to have my say sometimes on things and the tech talk has been invaluable.

This is what I got a my classic car club all those years ago, same thing, so nothing new there then, my last words when walking out of the pub one night were, "it's my car , I'll do what I want to it thanks...." I never did go back... Even after 12 years, no one has beaten my times in the same car / engine size, so I can't have made a bad job of building / driving it... Some folks like standard cars, and that's fine, just don't moan about how I am ruining my car....grrrrrrrrrr

Tbh I couldn't care less if someone famous owns a 7. I find celebrity adulation not for me. I can't think that fans of Mr Cowell and his show will buy one just because he did. You either want and understand what a 7 is or you don't. If you need the approval of someone in the media to get you to buy one I don't think a 7 is for you. A blinged up Bentley maybe but definitely not a 7. What I did find amusing was the tabloid press and the fact that a 7 is a luxury car and can cost up to £850k
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

A few of the folks on blatchat don't like my car either, probably because its so different from a "normal" or "classic" seven, but the reason I bought the thing in the first place was to be different, I could have bought a porker or a Ferrari or whatever, but do not subscribe to that image or lifestyle. Now, because my car is more "individual" it draws some..... I was going to say disdain, but that's not the right word, maybe disapproval, but I will say, never in a negative or disparaging way way, just some "not for me" comments.

Going to need some details in the 'bragging' section!

Also, Dropbox is crap for images as it never provides a direct link of the actual image, and that's need to have images shown in forums like this...
