Alpine Passes

So suppose we belt down the motorways to Livigno Italy (which is a tax-free region where petrol, accommodation and alcohol is 30% less expensive) where we base ourselves and drive all the passes shown.....

Well its a thought!

Done something similar in the past. After a Swiss trip stopped of in Livigno for a few days. Up early in the morning and chase bikes up the stelvio pass.
Had a nice hotel with underground parking and it was very good value.
Could be a option...

For 2019, common sense dictates we do sometime 'shorter' and closer to home...
Or some of us may not have 'homes' to go back to!
(If you know what I mean...)

The plan at the moment is a bit of combination of bits of the previous Brittany/Normandy/Roscoff Runs...

Oh - and if you have ever done 'Switzerland' remember is is one huge great village, with horrendous traffic, and caravans on each and every corner!
Done it twice, and swore I'd never go back!

I have been tempted to do the North Coast 500

The only trouble is that it could piss down incessantly, however there could be some good whisky stop offs

Agree that it will be politic to do a shorter trip next year... a D-Day theme in northern France (75th anniversary and all that...)?

Like the idea of the NC500... but as Eugene has commented, Scotland is green for a reason! I got more than moderately-moist more than enough last year!
