Well the BOG club ESB in honour of our little tour is no more (but will be made again). So time for a new Brew.

Light out Black IPA.

Gravity reading came out spot on at 1060 so should brew out to around 6%. Lots of Hops added during the boil, and more Citra hops to add in 4 days. The house had a lovely smell.
Might be more a dark beer than black but so far looking like a nice brew..... Now sitting in my modified fridge at 19'C for the yeasties to do there work.

Been away on holiday with the kids at half tern so added the dry hops Citra, before I went away. Looks like it has brewed out nicely (final gravity 1012) so siphoned off in to the cornie keg.

House smelt lovey of hops after cleaning up.

More dark brown than black, but considering its right out of the fermenter its nice and clear (Irish moss added this time and chilled the wort quicker). Not aged but actually a very nice pint. Lots of big IPA hop bitterness and a nice floral note. Aprox 6% and goes down very nicely...

Just drunk the bottle you gave me... very nice!

As you say, a lovely subtle floral note which unfortunately that doesn't come through on the tongue as much as I'd hoped but the hoppy bitterness is great nevertheless!

Scratch that... not sure of my opinion... got any more bottles to try to enable me to come to a conclusion?

Cheers guys.

There are always more beers for the BOG club but did drink a few over the weekend..... The Dark IPA will certainly but one on the list to brew again.

PS New golf was delayed due to the bad weather. Hopefully delivered in the next few days.

Just been out for a long, cold walk. Stopped in at the Dove (third/fifth pub on the post-PUiaB crawl) and had a Black IPA... lovely... and reminiscent of your brew.

(Oh... and Donut, do you want the bottle back?)

Umm Think I remember the Dove. All gets a bit hazy from there. The home brew Dark IPA is going down a treat.

Cheers Col, if you have the bottle hold onto it and next time I see you etc...

Next brew will be a ......... London Pride style brew.

A London Pride style brew eh...?

Had an ickle get-together yesterday whilst the Boat Races went past... including a 36-pint pin of cask-conditioned London Pride style beer; well London Pride! Oh, and Uncle Albert, a case of bottles of ESB!

That's what we laid on... am still drinking the Pride (as I type!) and the ESB was on offer, so seemed rude not to buy it!
