As lovely as my 7 is... the garage is always very stinky if he is put away hot.
There are no oil leaks and i do not run the engine inside the garage however the stink remains.

Its somewhere between hot oil and exhaust fumes..

Is this just a case of 'They all do that sir' or do you have any wisdom on the topic?

With Twinks - they all do that, sir, is I think the correrct answer...

It's probably burnt oil in the silencer can - I assume the engine does use a bit of oil?
Nothing great, but some loss over a given mileage?
The silencer packing will soak this up, and then smell...

Any help?

Sounds logical.. nothing to be done other than keep a garage window open i suppose.
Cheers.

Hi stinky minty ,don, t forget your car is self undersealing so you will always get a slight smell of hot oil/metal .
Best thing to do is hang an old pair of socks up in the garage .They will over power any other odours.

Nothing smelly about oil. It's a fragrance that should be savoured. Run some Castrol R and heighten the experience.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Thanks for the words of wisdom chaps.. it was quite strong even the morning after (but the car was nicely warm after the 500 mile trip to Bonn) and it was put into the garage straight away.

Lets see how it is after local trips.

Cheers from Bonn

Well.. some progress with this, i noticed fuel dripping from the carbs so probably adding to the heady cocktail of smells.

Carbs off and fixed i think -( replaced perished accelerator pump diaphragms) but now i am getting distracted and cleaning all the bits made inaccessible with the carbs fitted..

Greetings to my Hertfordshire 7 mates.
