Hi,
I'm now dismantling the front suspension on my live axle and a little confused (Which is easy for me).

On removing the front anti roll bar I was hoping to renew the bushes along with the dust covers however am I being stupid here.... How do you slide the bushes on/off with the round bearing end in situ? I assumed they would screw off but to no avail.

Am I looking at this incorrectly as clearly they got them on at some point?

Cheers

They are screw-off...
But, usually they are 'stuck' with thread-lock to stop them unscrewing when in use.

This does mean you need to use force - which can shatter the ball!

Thanks Eugene,

Perhaps a little heat then!

I don't want to damage them as I only wished to replace the bushes as they were supplied with the car and I'm painting everything.

Check your balls ,when you have finally removed them as they do wear and you could find that they are not spherical !!!

Not a good idea surely. The balls are plastic and we all know what happens to plastic when its heated. Would not want to re-use them after.

Cheers guys,

Should have mentioned, I hadn't had chance to look at my balls.....oh err misses, on checking I realised that heat wouldnt be a good idea!

Got one off in the end to slide both bushes off.

I have now also realised that you can purchase new balls from Caterham, albeit out of stock which seems to be everything I need at the moment!
Shall do some digging to find it elsewhere.

Cheers

If Caterham list something as out of stock on their website.
it is worth phoning, because I have bought several out of stock items by phone and noticed that weeks later they are still unavailable via the website.

I did offer a free ARB to whoever wanted it and was prepared to pay for shipping. It comes complete with balls and bushes as removed from my car, and is the "green" size (middle I think)
