Anyone know what the real manufacturer's part number is for this part?

Spherical Joint

£35.40 seems a tad excessive, as is usual for Caterham parts...

Have you any idea of the dimensions ?, outer case size, centre inside dia ?....

I use this crowd for my one off jobs, http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/Bearings-Spherical+Plain+Bearings/c3_4545/index.html

Good prices and very high quality stuff , I re-bearing'd my diff for less than half that other were selling as a " Diff rebuild kit"

Well done, yeah, if you know the specs you will get them far far cheaper , thats why the likes of CC don't put the specs on the website, they are not alone WF do that as well....

Try and find someone who just does bearings, as soon as you mention motorsprt the price will triple, folks who have cars that use those bearings must have cash !!!..

There's a national company called BSL [bearing service ltd] I get all my bearings from them, if you have the old one take it along to your local branch, will be cheep as chips
If no BSL in your area check your yellow pages for a local bearing supplier, there's normally a couple of local competitors to BSL.
Good luck
Why not start a thread for caterham part numbers and their equivelants
Hope this helps

Good idea that Mal, I must dig out the invoice from my diff ones, I can't believe the profit that major players make on what is quite a standard part....

They're not a standard part. Rose joints or spherical bearings come in a huge range of specs. The material of the body, the material of the ball, the material of the liner between the two, the lubrication, the seals can all be different.

This could quite easily give you two bearings with wildly different load carrying capabilities or anticipated life or rust resistance or something else that look identical, prices will clearly vary from one to another.

So if Caterham parts are charging 5 times what you can buy a similar looking bearing it may be because it's different spec. Or they may just be ripping us off which is where we started.

The only way to find out is to get a newish Caterham supplied part and read off the suppliers model no and spec the same bearing from elsewhere.
