As a way for people to compare their 7 setup for sump clearance, how about a list of what people have, with what tyre sizes?
(Add your info to the thread, and I'll update this main list from those posts.)

Eugene - 85mm - 185/70r13 - 2L Zetec wet sump
Eugene - 80mm - 185/60r13 - 2L Zetec wet sump (205/60r13 on rears)
Uncle Albert - 70mm - 185/60r13 - 2L Zetec wet sump with BDA rocker cover*
admaraujo - 90mm - 185/60r13 - 1.6 K-series wet sump (SV)
s47 - 80mm - 185/70r13 - 2L Zetec wet sump (S4)
BigCol - 75mm - 175/55R13 - 1.6 Sigma (SV)
Analogue - 68-70mm - 185/60r13 - Superlight 1.6 wet sump
Donut - 78mm - 185/60r13 - 2L Zetec wet sump

*Uncle Albert has a 'Ford BDA' rocker cover, which increases engine overall height, and has required the engine to be set lower in chassis - and his 70mm is with the lower wishbones slanted up to the chassis end. If parallel the sump clearance would be about 10mm lower...)

admaraujo:
Orange Appled - 90mm

How can you have 90mm?
That is a huge figure for 185/60r13 tyres... are your lower wishbones parallel to the ground, or slanted up towards the chassis?

I really don't know the answer to that. Wishbones are parallel... Will try to find some time to better measure that...

Nothing wrong with 30-profile tyres (albeit 295 width on 19" rims on my latter-day Beetle descendant!!)

OK so made a little adjustment to the front.
Using a bubble level app on the phone the rear arm of the front wishbone was slightly down (only a tad). So aprox 1.5 turns each side now I have aprox 1 degree up on the nose which with me sitting in the car means the wishbones are level....

Now 78mm under the sump..... Just have the raise the back a fraction now.
