Long John and I did this last year and jolly good it was too.
It's a cheap way of getting into the Duxford museum, plus the car auction.

Rough plan is:
10.30 Meet TeaBag manor Cambridge for coffee, then a short blat to...
11.30 The Queen's Head Newton for an early lunch & brew, then a short blat to...
12.30 Duxford for an afternoon looking at classic cars and the air museum

Did that back when Minty purchased an early Lotus 7 from the auction.
Great fun, as I had to then pick-up said 7 later in the week

So, sounds like a plan to me!

That'll be an Integrale with no MoT for nearly three years...!

So, do we need to get the catalogue in advance?
Or on the door...?

On the door. Roughly £12 for a catalogue which admits 2 people.

My cars through the sixties, seventies and eighties...if I'd kept just a few. The values at auction will be hard to swallow but I'll go anyway and try to laugh it off.

Might going on the previous, preview, day be considered a better option...?

Resists any temptation or accidental bidding due to an itchy nose and keep us out of the serious punters' way!

I did both days last year and the preview day is definitely quieter.
But may not be possible to slip into the museum free (£20 saved).

On auction day you can still view all the cars, then slip into the museum amongst the bussle.
It's not possible to accidentally bid, as you need to pre-register as a bidder.

The results of the Duxford Referendum are in, and it's an unexpected win for the "Preview Day" camp.

As organiser of this event I will respect the referendum result, and will endeavour to deliver a visit to Duxford on the auction preview day.

We will therefore be gathering on Tuesday 15th October.

Should I fail to negotiate a deal with the weather gods for the Tuesday, I will prorogue 7-DNA and force through a 1 day extension to move the visit to Wednesday.

If no weather deal can be reached for either day, we will crash out to Duxford on Tuesday Preview Day with no deal, no ifs, no buts.
