I know it's a little early but these things take a little planning.

Plan A
We put the 7's on the Motorail in Hertogenbosch (Netherlands) to Livorno & Alessandria in Italy.
That puts us under 200 miles from Lake Como for a days R&R before an epic drive through the alps to Le Mans.
The good news is it does not look that expensive either.

G'Day to you Frenchy
Oh one just has to be motivated when it comes to Le Mans and especially the Classic, i mean what is not to like?

For a start there are the great driving roads and we do like a corner or two
The French are always so enthusiastic too when we are on the road, add in great food, booze, proper coffee, a little sunshine and great driving buddies. We just can't go wrong.

So why not extend the driving to add more corners and a few mountain roads, this all adds up to an epic adventure that will be talked about when we are sitting on our rocking chairs in years to come, telling all the youngsters in there electric road rockets exactly what a proper boat in a 7 with a proper fire breathing combustion engine is all about.

And then the is Le Mans itself, just a magic place for any car enthusiast.
The only problem is coming home at the end and trying to get back to normal.
Seems rude not to take a piece of Le Mans home with you

I'm wondering about using Eurostar from the UK to get somewhere, and then drive back to Le Mans...

Where does Eurostar go?

The thinking here was "less ferry, more driving". Suggested trip:
  • Day 1: Cherbourg -> (eg) Saint-Nazaire area, via wibbly coastal roads, with beach/bar stops
  • Day 2: -> Hotel La Vielle Maison, stay for 2 (or maybe 3) nights, spend time chilling by the pool and exploring local roads
  • Day 4: -> Le Bounty, via this year's excellent route
  • Day 5: Blat to Hotel De France for lunch
  • Day 6&7: Le Mans Historic
  • Day 8: -> Cherbourg -> Blighty

I like it apart from the lack of mountains.
I thought that was the sort of thing we had in mind for next year, but without the Classic.
