Skoda Problems

Bit of a long shot but my Skoda Octavia last weekend developed two faults simultaneously; Auto Stop/Start has stopped functioning (this error is displayed on the car's infotainment system) and the cruise control has stopped working (doesn't show in the infotainment system but when selecting the normal cruise control symbol comes on but is orange with an exclamation mark next to it). The engine management light is permanently on which I guess is indicating both problems.

So far I've spent £132.00 for a diagnostics at Skoda Harlow only to be told the report is fairly inclusive and they need to speak to HQ Technical but I can expect the fix to be fairly involved...

Anyone else heard of similar problems and/or can recommend an independent mechanic?

Thanks

PS Typically the car is only just out of warranty

I'd check battery...
Have had some similar issues, and it was due to a failing battery.

Cheers, I said that to the Skoda mechanic and he said that he didn't check it because if it were failing then it would come out on the diagnostic report (and it hadn't).

Think I'll ask a favour of a certain independent 7/Skoda specialist who lurks in these pages to test it...

Hi Dave ,
All the symptoms sound very similar to the volvo c30 diesel i recently had trouble with.
In my case issues were , car stop start didnt operate , low power and limp mode coming on,and engine stalling
Cause was the DPF( Diesel Particulate filter) tank had problems thus causing the malfunctions
Caused i think by low mileage
Costed a lot to fix ! Hope its not but worth investigating.

Thanks Richard, it's a petrol so no DPF. Had the battery tested at KwikFit yesterday and they said it's Ok.
As you've probably seen the guys on BlatChat have come up with some ideas, fingers crossed as I'm fearing an expensive repair bill...
