Hello all, planning for our Brittany run I was thinking about using the phone in the car rather than my trusty old GPS. Previously I had the GPS mounted on the dash behind the aeroscreen, which is fine until it rains. Was looking about mounting the phone on the tunnel top in front of the gear-stick. As this is under the dash has anyone had GPS reception problems like this or is it fine?

So having decided to use my phone, I now hate google maps....
Why does it have to be so difficult. Exported the TomTom itn routes, loaded these into google maps as .kml file, saved a new google map and.....yep you can't access them via the iphone google maps app, only via the google web page then it does not seem to let you actually navigate via the route. Or am I missing a trick?

So other iphone users what navigation app do you prefer? Might just go back to my age old satnvav at this rate.

Get Sygic - it's cheap, and is what I use!

Apparently those little ladies shower caps you get in hotels make handy water proof covers for sat navs on motorbikes so I guess it would be the same in a 7. Not tried it as I only go out in the sun

Steve are you using Sygic ver 15? if so how do you save and load a route? All the instructions online are for the older version....

Yep, the latest version of Sygic 15.

I use Android, but to load routes you need to convert them from TomTom itn (which is what I use with TYRE) to Sygic format.
I use ITN Converter - http://www.benichou-software.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1&Itemi d=4&lang=en

You then place the route in the correct file on your phone.
For android that is 'SD card/Android/Data/com.sygic.aura/files/Sygic/Res/itinery'

Cheers Steve, um tried that sort of but have an iphone. After a couple of lock-ups I setup Sygic to sync with my dropbox, which created the res folder but no itinerary folder? Converted the itn to itf with itn-converter and made an itinerary folder in dropbox but...... she no see the routes....

Might try tonight, syncing the itf file to Sygic via itunes, Cheers, there is always plans B using the trusty old Satnav....

OK have saved a route on the iPhone which I see in Sygic in favourites. But when I sync with iTunes I do not see the saved route, and if I sync via iTunes one of the itf route files I do not see it in favourites. On occasions like this wish I had stayed with Android.....

But if you can see the route in Sygic, is that not all you need???

Or, is the Route you saved one you made in Sygic?
If so, use a file browser within the iPhone to search for it, and find where it is saved - and then save your external route there too...

Any luck with the iPhone?
I have found a suggestion that with iPhones the route should be in: Apps/Sygic/Library/sygic/aurares/itinerary
But I think it should be /storage/extsdcard/android/data/com.sygic.aura/files/sygic/res/itinerary
