So what to do with the holder. I've already got a Hesketh bear for my 7. Not sure what to use on my WRX though.

I'm going to leave mine on the 7 with the last tax disc in it... it's part of the history of the car.
Wonder if that will cause issues after it effectively 'expires'???

I'm sure Le President has plans for a 7 DNA badge that'll fit in the holder? Or possibly the other Herbert, with a 7 Sp**d badge that'll fit!

I still have my original tax disc from when I first registered the car in 1989, I'm going to scan it and put the copy in the holder and leave it on the car

What I can't work out, (probably me being thick before Toby points it out) is, say you are buying a SH car and chopping your existing car in, so you drive to the dealer to collect new car and have to tax new car imediately, it needs to be insured so you ring broker, given that its not a sunday, to transfer insurance, that transfer is unlikely to show up on MID for a couple of days so how do you tax the new vehicle

Over the weekend we acquired yet another car. The change of ownership was quite simple. Had to fill in the new keeper section of the V5 and the existing keeper and new keeper signed it, send it to the DVLA and theoretically the previous keeper will get an automatic refund of outstanding tax.

We then had to insure it and re-tax it. Insurance was simple, added it to our Aviva multicar policy on the phone. Taxed it on-line within minutes using the reference number on the slip the new keeper retains and a Debit card.

Have just talked to DVLA and they reminded me of something I think I already knew, when Taxing a car they no longer check that is is insured, so to tax a new / SH vehicle all you need is an MOT and 12 digit ref from logbook/new keeper doc, if you wish to setup a standing order however it cannot be done via phone only via interweb : sorted

Maybe as a reminder I will scan an old taxdisk and insert expiry date and still keep one on the screen, so I can still have the "oh bugger" moment when walking past the car and realising I have forgotten the tax
