Oh - one of the issues with Germany is there is Bugger All Google Maps coverage, so it will be next to impossible to plan good routes...

Le Chevral Blanc in Reims hotel owner...."turn that music down it's too loud...!"

Typical Frank behavior....

Not really in favour of wasting blatting time on a long and boring ferry to Santander.

What about a run down to say, Marseilles or thereabouts and a run along the Med coast......

I'll look at some different routes using the Chunnel as a crossing.
There should be some good roads along the border with Belgium?
And heading to the Med sounds like a great plan - and we could skip into the Black Forest on the way?

But, I do like the idea of Portugal too... possibly using the ferry there and back???

Maybe we need a poll to see who fancies what???

Hey chaps, I'm struggling here...
Been looking at possible routes, but we really need to define an underlying basic - do we want a couple of nights stay at each location, as per last year?
I ask, as even getting to Epernay for a glass or two of the bubbly-stuff, is near 200 miles from the Chunnel.

It's not the 'Bubbly' that's the issue - it more about what time we spend where...
So, here's a poll!

Have voted for the latter option but surely the two aren't mutually-exclusive...?

Could have one night here if the area is less interesting, two nights there if worth exploring the locale or comparatively short drives between hotels if there's something interesting en route etc...

That all said, like Frank, am happy to go with the flow and appreciate the efforts of those planning on our behalf!

Yep, that is assumed to be true for option 2...
I just need a feel for what most would like.

Mind you, had a beer with Uncle Albert yesterday, and he's keen on a longer duration - 10 days, so now thinking of a trip where individuals can chose when to dip-out and head home.
But, we still need a guide as to the preferred location to head towards, the best crossing, etc.?

Weirdly, I'm not a fan of the Chunnel, as I do actually enjoy the ferry as part of the whole event.
But, I'm not wedded to that.

I'm also very, very happy for anyone else to jump in and actually offer a plan!
So. if any of you have more ideas, like Frank's suggestion for the Black Forest, or Hedge's suggestion to head towards the Med, please shout-up!

For thought, this is a 1600 mile loop of France...
Could be the basis for something???
Personally, I'd love a run like this, if time allowed...
