TL;DR as I believe the yoof say:
My overweight niece is running the London Marathon for a Child Cancer charity as her 7-year-old nephew was diagnosed with cancer in 2020.
I'll add to any donation mentioning me/the club (to a limit!).
See here:

The long version:
Back in 2020, just as we went in to lockdown, my great-nephew Tom, aged seven, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. He faced an almighty fight and what was nearly four years of long and gruelling treatment. Thankfully he is now in remission and looking as fit and healthy as any other 12-year-old.
Helen, his aunt/my youngest niece, who wouldn't mind me describing her as ahem, "not a natural athlete", is going to run the London Marathon to raise funds for the Young Lives vs Cancer charity who were a great support to Tom and his family.
As she has said herself, this will be an enormous challenge but trivial compared to what Tom faced and overcame.
Would you be kind enough to contribute? It'd make a huge difference and certainly motivate Helen to keep on running. As a motivation to you, I'll add half as much again to any donation made (up to a maximum of £262.19; no prizes for determining why that amount).
Any amount would be appreciated - even if it's just the price of a pint (or a decent bottle of wine or a pub lunch or a tank of Super Unleaded or...)
Please contribute here:
https://2025tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/helen-farr and reference BOG Club or my moniker in the notes/comments so I know to add the extra.
Thanks in advance (and thanks to Doc who has already contributed!)
Oh, and don't forget to add Gift Aid!
(if you're a 40% rate tax payer, a £40 donation will cost you £30 in the end and benefit the charity £50, well £75 with my matching!)
