A few days ago I replaced the battery on the Caterham, which is a 2002 SV with K engine.

I switched on, heard the pump primeitselfto pressure, and it started on the second try....not bad for a car that's been sitting possibly 12 months without being started.

Next time I tried a few days later, no pump priming noise, and it didn't even turn the starter motor.

The key fob didn't at this point seem to be doing anything....I replaced its battery and it now does seem to interact with whattever's left of the immobiliser/alarm.....but I don't recall how this is supposed to be used!

It's the Rover fob, a Lucas unit, and has two buttons, the left with a padlock symbol, the right has no symbol.

There's a red led blinking away on the dash.

What is the start technique?

Edit to say after contacting 'M25' from Blatchat, I have sorted the problem.

The ecu was showing its power on led, but the 20 amp ECU-Fuel Injection fuse had blown....unsurprising as it was only a 15amp.

Now replaced with a 30amp on advice from Ian.

Now starts perfectly.
