I use in-ear headphones all the time to stop wind noise. Earplugs would be needed if not using in-ear headphones.

The angle is key too.

Is it also possible that the almost flatness and height of the LHS rear view mirror is affecting airstream and creating some unwanted problems? So if I got some more aero and lower positioned mirrors would it help?

Has anyone figured out a tidy way of filling the gap between the lower edge of the Brookland screen and the stanchion mount/scuttle other than duck tape?

The gaffa tape was a temp fix - some 15+ years back...

This time I have a couple of more professional plans.

Either, use some tonneau material, and stick under the mounting bar at the front edge, and to the bottom of the Brooklands...

Or, use a plastic tube, of correct diameter, cut in half, and attached to the Brooklands, with the lower edge shaped to sit on the mounting bar...

Am leaning towards the tonneau material.

I've still got the temporary(!) duck tape solution you fixed in Llandough about 6 years ago!

I like the idea of the tonneau, if you tuck enough under the mounting stanchion means you could still adjust the angle (I like passenger side to be flat when seat is vacant - must add the equivalent to 5bhp...), how to attach the top bit though to the bottom of the screen ????

How thick should be the Brooklands to scuttle piece(s) of metal? Or a couple of washers will do the trick?

Do you not have the scuttle mounting bar?
That's the best way to mount them...

No, I don't. And I personally think it's a bit too expensive, if a DIY solutions can be arranged.

In which case, I'd use large washers, or similar, under the scuttle to give strength, and keep the Brooklands solid...

I am thinking of either washers or a piece or aluminium the width of the Brooklands pedestals under the scuttle.

If washers only how thick you think one should go?

Actually, thinking about it... washers may not be best, as they may end up forming a circular raised dent in the scuttle, as the scuttle is not flat...
An aluminium strip, bent to the correct radius/shape would probably be better.
3mm or 4mm thick should be ok.

I must admit it will get changed when I see something better to copy or I design something better.
It works better than the false mounting plate did which is good, and still way better than a full screen.
