We will need to avoid this -

Just a heads up for anyone planning on using the M4 on 4th & 5th September

On September 4th & 5th over 60 world leaders will be coming to Wales to attend the NATO Summit at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport. (M4 J 24). A series of associated events will also take place in Cardiff.
The estimated number of people involved is quite staggering.
140 VIP "protected persons"
5000 additional support staff
8000 extra police
15000 protesters
5000 media

It is anticipated that any impact will be focused around the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, the City Centre of Cardiff, and the roads in between Bristol & Cardiff, particularly the M4. Significant disruption should be limited to particular 'pinch-points' during the two days, as delegations arrive and depart the Celtic Manor Resort. Rush-hour on Thursday morning & the evening of 4th September and Friday morning 5th September are likely to be the most affected times. It is not anticipated that the M4 will be closed, only a few local roads around the Celtic Manor & in Cardiff, but expect long delays on the M4 and congestion on approach roads, particularly the A449.
